Sebago Technics is a key member of the PCL/Figg Design/Build Team performing the roadway design, traffic engineering, transportation management planning including temporary traffic control design, and environmental permitting support for this $59M construction project.
The scope of this Project entails the replacement of four existing bridges on the two-barrel interstate (two in each direction) over Upper Dummerston Road and the West River in Brattleboro. The new design calls for single structures at each location with appropriate approach roadway tie-ins. The total Project length is approximately 1 mile and will include temporary crossovers at each end of the construction. Construction will occur in 3 phases, each with its own set of plans and temporary traffic control arrays.
A rather unique aspect of this Project for Vermont is the use of a Smart Work Zone package for advanced traveler information. This system is similar to what has been used in NH on I-89 and I-93 with message boards and a public website alerting drivers to real time congestion levels through the Work Zone. The Project commenced in early 2013 and is expected to be completed in mid-2016.
